People who are doing the quest don't want the guide to be full of images without any purpose other than decoration, and people who want to see the cutscenes will watch a video guide, as those actually show the cutscenes instead of having a few shots of it. I will tell you one thing: Those subpages will be visited so rarely it is definetely not worth having them. I've switched to chrome now for the goggles, but I see no difference with Internet Explorer 6 in terms of loading lag of so many images. Also, about lag and browser crashes: GU pages fully load within 8 seconds on my 1999 (or 2000/2001, not sure) computer and then cause no problems afterwards, so I don't see the problem. ![]() In fact, quite a number of wikis do that. *commits suicide* Fsw e1 18:02, Decem(UTC) Anyway, then we could stuff everything into one huge gallery (something I would hate as it looks even worse) or the gallery subpage, which basically has the same function as collapsible galleries without the lag for people who don't want to see them. *pretends to know what you're talking about* Yes, right, how could I forget that. Suppa chuppa Talk 16:51, Decem(UTC)Īs in iPhone/Android etc. And sideshows look awful, please don't use them. Only after everything is loaded are the galleries collapsed. That'll still hurt users who have slow internet connections or are accessing the page from their phone. Also, we can use the slideshow option for galleries, which takes up the space of one large image. It allows those who do not want to see images to not notice them at all and those that do want to see them are one click away. I really like the collapsible gallery idea though. And cutscenes like the ones in Love Story or Ritual of the Mahjarrat happen to be "overall awesome". Images, as long as they are tidily ordered (preferably in a not too large gallery) can be uploaded not just because they are necessary, but also because they looks cool. Another option would be making Quest/Gallery pages, although that is not very practical. People who are not doing the quest and cannot do so (and don't care for the spoilers) will appreciate that. We can make the galleries collapsible when they exceed 4 (or any number) images. Support - Per above Ansela Jonla 21:53, Decem(UTC) Unnecessary, yes! But not necessarily (get the pun?) not interesting. Support - Completely unnecessary to have the entire cut-scene put on the page. Support - ROTM and Love Story are 2 examples where pretty much an entire cutscene was uploaded scene by scene, which is pretty excessive, so limiting them would be a good idea Template:Signatures/Ciphrius Kane 21:22, Decem(UTC) Bleü Fiya Oil4 I made this 20:34, Decem(UTC) Ronan Talk 20:27, Decem(UTC)įairy nuff - Yeah, I guess the rotm page did crash my chrome a couple of times in the past couple of days. Support - I appreciate the effort and committment our image makers put into their work, but it comes to nothing when it impedes the rest of the article. User:Urbancowgurl777/Signature 20:23, Decem(UTC) So completely unnecessary, the person is theoretically doing the quest while reading our guide, they don't need cutscene images. Strong support - RAEG at lag and untidy images all over the place. ![]() J O E Y T J E 5 0 T A L K pull my finger 20:21, Decem(UTC) Only images that support text should be added to articles." Action shots of cutscenes may look good, but they also increase the pageload a lot without adding anything useful to guides. ![]() There should be no more than 4 images per cutscene, unless the article really would benefit from more. "For cutscenes, only the most important parts should be displayed on the respective article. I'd like to propose an addition to RS:IMP, having something like this: There are a lot of cutscenes in the newer quests, and some users upload a lot of those cutscene screenshots to the wiki. There have been a few discussions about cutscene images on quest guides recently, including this RfU. This thread was archived on 17 December 2011 by Ajraddatz.
